The NSW Government GovDC digital transformation program is the poster-child for ICT adoption across the country, with other States looking on in envy as more and more public services keep rolling out online, providing easy access to various agencies with speed and efficiency.

So successful has the transition been during the past nine years that the peak industry body – the AIIA – recently released a position paper for the WA Government recommending it adopt much of the eastern state’s blueprint.

Metronode has been the trusted partner for the implementation of the GovDC program since 2012, purpose-building and operating several data centres at Silverwater in Sydney and Unanderra in Wollongong, resulting in the consolidation of 130 data centres into just two.

Earlier this year, Metronode announced it was constructing further facilities in both locations to grow its footprint to accommodate additional GovDC expansion, with a focus on supporting cloud to facilitate digitisation and enabling the delivery of citizen-focused services across many platforms.

The NSW Government’s demand for Metronode to deliver the highest standards in security, availability and efficiency has put Australia’s Best Data Centre Operator* at the forefront of its competitors, with its world-class facilities also available to retail customers.

The technology deployed by Metronode uses direct free-air cooling to harness natural cool air from outside the data centre to maintain a stable temperature inside, offering customers the most energy-efficient data centre in Australia, important to governments and the commercial sector.

There are no other data centre providers in Australia who have three facilities with a NABERS 4.5 star data centre rating# and Metronode’s Shenton Park, Perth facility will bring the total to four when it receives certification later this month.

Agility and on-demand scalability is of paramount importance to accommodate the rapidly-changing environment of businesses and Metronode’s connectivity options allow easy access to hybrid, private or public cloud solutions so customers can

Reliability is non-negotiable and, as well as having Australia’s highest number of Uptime Institute-certified Tier III constructed data centres, Metronode has more than 14 years of continuous uptime. In fact, the Uptime Institute has named Metronode as one of the world’s most reliable data centre operators.
