Metronode sets a new industry benchmark with three NABERS 4.5-Star Rated facilities

Metronode started 2016 with a bang announcing that one of its data centres was the first Australian
facility to achieve a NABERS 4.5-star rating.

And in a significant end-of-year boost, two additional Metronode data centres have this week been
awarded NABERS 4.5-star ratings.

A first for Australia, the three Metronode NABERS 4.5-star rated facilities – Silverwater and

Unanderra in NSW and Derrimut in Victoria – are also the most energy efficient data centres in the

Metronode Managing Director Josh Griggs said that the company’s superior engineering and energy efficient
technologies were key elements in achieving the NABERS star ratings.

“Energy efficiency is critical for our customers who not only want to house their data in secure,
adaptive facilities but also want to lower their overall expenditure.

“Power costs will continue to rise and Metronode’s combination of engineering excellence and
cutting-edge energy efficient solutions are setting new benchmarks in Australia,” Mr Griggs said.

The data centres in Silverwater and Unanderra are a result of the NSW Government’s Data Centre
Reform Project, in which 130 data centres were consolidated into the two centres that comprise

Metronode worked in collaboration with Blue IOT to achieve the three NABERS 4.5-star ratings.

NABERS is an Australian rating system, managed nationally by the NSW Office of Environment and
Heritage on behalf of Federal, state and territory governments, that measures the environmental
performance of Australian buildings.
