Metronode Really is the Best Data Centre Operator
For the second time this year, Metronode has been named Australia’s best data centre provider, confirming it is setting a benchmark for data centres across the country.
At the Frost & Sullivan 2017 Australia Excellence Awards, held in Sydney on Thursday December 7, Metronode was named Data Centre Service Provider of the Year, an accolade it also collected in March at the inaugural CommsDay Edison Awards when it was named Australia’s Best Data Centre Operator.
Yu Xuan Ng, Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst for Digital Transformation, said Metronode had expanded its footprint in Australia rapidly, doubling its IT load capacity in 2017.
“Metronode is one of the fastest data centre operators in Australia to build a facility from start to finish, having completed the final stages of a data centre expansion for a major international customer in Melbourne this year in record time.
“With a commitment to speed-to-market, Metronode attained impressive growth in 2017,” he said.
As the year draws to a close, Metronode has much to celebrate, with the last 12 months being one of the most successful years of operation.
CEO David Yuile said Metronode’s $150m construction program was completed with new data centres constructed and operational in Melbourne at the existing Derrimut site, at the Wollongong Unanderra site and Sydney’s Silverwater site.
“This year, Metronode has proved to the market that we can build our facilities quicker than any other provider in the country,” Mr Yuile said.
“This is a very attractive offer for our customers because they don’t have to wait for months and months, and in some instances more than a year, for new facilities.
“Our construction cycle for new data centres is between six and nine months, a distinct advantage in the fast-paced business environment in which we now operate,” he said.
Metronode is also the only data centre provider in Australia to have four of its facilities awarded a 4.5 NABERS data centre rating, a major customer benefit with both financial and environmental impacts.
The Shenton Park Perth facility was the fourth Metronode data centre to successfully complete the rigorous, 12-month NABERS assessment. The site was expanded in 2017 to satisfy Government and business customer demand and the ASC submarine cable landing, with the addition of adjacent land to accommodate further data halls builds.
“It has been a great year for Metronode and we are proud of all we have achieved,” David Yuile said.
“Data centres are the factories of the future and we can expect more customer demand and many more facilities built in 2018.”
