Metronode MD Josh Griggs puts “sizzle” back into selling data centre services

 In MetroBlog

Attendees at The Future of Financial Services event held in Sydney last week heard the facts about the importance of energy efficiency, security, flexibility and adaptability in the choice of data centre, as more and more institutions face ever-increasing major digital disruption.

In his presentation, Metronode MD Josh Griggs reminded the audience that not all data centres are born equal and urged them to develop strategies for the future that focused their considerations on performance, reliability and scalability.

Metronode’s credentials were highlighted as Australia’s Best Data Centre Operator*, detailing its enviable record of 100% uptime and speed to construct, with Griggs revealing the company had delivered the first 3MW of a new 8MW facility in seven months, with the completed facility available for operations within nine months.

This is part of an ongoing $150m facilities construction program by Metronode on existing sites in Derrimut Melbourne, Silverwater Sydney and Unanderra Wollongong.

With digitisation comes significant power to operate high-density equipment and Griggs emphasised Metronode’s leading energy-efficient technologies, using direct free-air cooling for more than 80% of all its data centres, with four of its facilities with the NABERS 4.5 data centre rating, unequalled in the Australia.

With the NSW Government as a major customer since 2012, energy efficiency was vital to their decision and they now believe that, by using Metronode’s technologies, they have achieved the equivalent of taking 10,000 cars off the road and are on track to reduce carbon emissions of more than 646,000 tonnes by 2028.

And the verdict? According to one of the country’s most experienced technology journalists, Beverley Head, Josh Griggs puts the sizzle back into the selling of data centre services.

Do you know what the future holds? Can you scale and adapt as technology evolves? With Metronode, you can.

We welcome you to tour the Metronode facilities in Silverwater or any other of our other nine facilities around the country.

*Metronode was named as the Best Data Centre Operator at the 2017 CommsDay Edison Awards.
