Metronode commits more than $150m to data centre expansion projects
As more and more companies look to move their captive data centres to secure, reliable offsite facilities, Australia’s Best Data Centre Operator* Metronode is spending millions of dollars to supply the increase in demand in infrastructure projects with the construction of three new data centres in Sydney, Melbourne and Wollongong.
CEO David Yuile said the company was currently the fastest to build from start to finish of any other data centre operator in Australia, having completed the final stages of an 8MW expansion in Melbourne for a major international customer in record time. The Wollongong build, in Unanderra, began in March and will be completed by November 2017.
The speed in which Metronode can build its world-class facilities is an important factor for customers who need confirmed availability.
Metronode data centres offer state-of-the-art, technologically-superior facilities to help customers grow and scale at speed and the facilities are a natural fit for hyperscale cloud providers. The data centres are also the most energy-efficient in Australia, with all three existing facilities in Sydney, Melbourne and Wollongong achieving a NABERS 4.5 data centre rating#.
Flexibility, security and agility is more important than ever to transform businesses and capacity is a distinct advantage because Metronode can provide its customers with certainty if they experience unforecasted demand.
The NSW Government GovDC is the major tenant in both the Wollongong and Sydney data centres but the construction of additional facilities in both cities means there will also be co-location services available for enterprise and commercial customers.
To mark the construction project in Wollongong, Metronode held an event onsite at its facilities with the Lord Mayor Cl Gordon Bradbery as a VIP Guest.
