eco-friendly
Metronode’s new data centres are based on the BladeRoom™ system which maximises free-air cooling for significant operational savings and proven, reliable performance. An annual average PUE of less than 1.2 in south and eastern Australia will provide 80% savings in facility cooling overhead and carbon cost compared to a legacy 2.0 PUE facility. Using predominantly steel structures also means our facilities can be recycled at the end of their useful life.
Creating a Better Future
Metronode is committed to creating a better future by using energy more efficiently. Metronode’s next generation data centres are developed using BladeRoom™ technology and have been designed from the outset to maximise data centre efficiency, using free cooling and delivering a proven PUE as low as 1.14 in some locations in Australia including Melbourne, Adelaide and Canberra. That means a data centre with 1MW of IT load will only require 140kW of additional power for cooling. At these levels, Metronode is able to achieve some of the lowest operating costs and carbon emissions in the market today.
An Opportunity for your Business
A reduction in carbon emissions is a key business objective for most of our clients. Given the energy consumed at a data centre represents a large proportion of a company’s overall electricity consumption, a key step in your carbon reduction strategy should be an assessment of your data centre strategy.
Production Benefits
Factory production offers a sustainable alternative to site-based construction and a more resource-efficient way to produce truly green data centre facilities. In a factory environment materials are tightly controlled and waste is dramatically reduced. By using a central production facility heavy vehicle movements and associated CO2 emissions are dramatically reduced. Dust, noise and other pollution associated with site works is almost entirely eliminated.
End of Site Requirement
When a site is no longer required, the entire sustainable data centre can simply be relocated to another location, making the BladeRoom system a re-deployable, truly sustainable data centre asset.
